Barmac Industries was established in 1955 in
the state of Queensland, Australia. The company was formed to service
a number of markets in the agricultural and urban pest control arenas
by formulating a wide range of commodity and specialty plant protection
and pest control products. The company also developed a group of
fertilizers and pesticides targeting the golf course and bowling
club markets as well other areas of amenity horticulture. The founders
of the company, Mr Garth Barnes and Mr Len McGrath saw a need for
a company which would develop high quality products for some of
the smaller areas of the chemical industry, focusing on innovation
and service. While Barnes and McGrath are no longer involved in
the organisation the Barmac brand name is still
associated with high quality and innovative products and in our
industries we have an extremely high level of brand recognition
in all states of Australia. We are a private company with 100% Australian
ownership.
As the organisation continues to grow our focus has moved towards
the larger general agricultural markets which now represent a significant
proportion of our business. We have maintained our quality focus
but now are not only involved in products we manufacture and formulate
ourselves but we also represent the product ranges of many overseas
organisations who desire to have their products marketed in Australia.
These companies have recognised the importance of being associated
with a dynamic, results focused organisation which is well known
and respected by both its customers and competitors.
Our current product range focuses on three main market groups as
well as two smaller but rapidly growing areas:-
Turf and Amenity Horticulture
We have a large range of speciality pesticides and fertilizers for this market. We have been continually
involved in this industry since 1955 and believe we are the largest
private wholesaler of products into this market in Australia.
In addition Barmac Industries has a range of ancillary
products for these industries to improve the quality of turf
areas and assist turf managers in their jobs.

Horticulture and Agriculture
Our range of products in the broader agricultural markets are a
blend of speciality fertilizers and pesticides as
well as a number of commodity pesticides .
We have a proven track record in marketing niche products into these
industries and as such are agents for a number of international
companies.

Pest Control and Public Health
Barmac Industries has been associated with the
commercial pest control industry since its incorporation in 1955.
Technology and procedures are changing at a rapid pace as both consumers
and governments seek safer and more environmentally friendly products.
By utilising both our experience in this industry and our wide overseas
contacts we are regularly releasing new products
and improved formulations for pest control operators, whether
they be treating domestic premises or commercial and industrial
complexes.

Home Garden Products
Our domestic pesticides and fertilizers are
heavily biased towards lawns and other turf areas although we also
package a number of products for the more
discerning gardener who has a few vegetables or some fruit trees
in their back yard. As most of our products are marketed at full
commercial strength they generally cover a larger area than most
home garden products and offer good value for money.

Toll Packaging and Formulation
We offer this service to other companies who do not have the capacity
or equipment to meet all of their own requirements. Often our customers
are involved in similar markets to ourselves although some customers
are in unrelated areas. We specialise in small runs and specialty
products. We also have the expertise to custom blend products to
the specific requirements of end users, a service regularly used
in the Turf and urban horticultural markets.
Barmac Industries is a wholesale company and
as such we do not sell direct to any end users. In this way we are
able to respect the complex and service orientated distribution
culture which exists in all aspects of the agricultural, turf, pest
control and associated markets in Australia. Subsequently we currently
have trading relationships with over 400 distributors in these markets,
including all of the major distribution companies and buying groups.
As a flexible and dynamic organisation with a flat management structure
we are able to source or develop new products and technologies and
introduce them into a market quickly and successfully. Our relatively
small range of products ensures that we focus on these new products
and are able to allocate the necessary resources quickly and effectively.
